Nicolet National Forest
The Nicolet National Forest is right next to Eagle River and is roughly 650,000 acres in size. There are also around 1,200 lakes in the national forest. A very popular thing to do in the national forest is go hiking. There are numerous trails and they range in length and difficulty. This is a great option to spend some time outside, get some fresh air, and exercise. I would wear comfortable shoes with some tread because depending on what trail you decide to take they can get pretty steep. I would also bring a bag lunch because once you start hiking you will not want to go back to eat. Also, they allow dogs as long as they are on a leash. As long as your dogs stay close you can pretty much just let them go, that’s what we do and we have never had a problem with it. The national forest offers great hunting for species such as deer, bear, grouse, and waterfowl. There is an abundance of fish in the lakes of the national forest; some of the most notable species include musky, pike, bass, and trout. This attraction would get four stars because it is just not as much fun as being on the lake. There is something for everyone in the Nicolet National Forest.
