The best place to visit if you are coming to northern Wisconsin is Eagle River.  Eagle River is a very popular tourist attraction.  There are many lakes and other recreational activities to keep everyone occupied for a great vacation.  Eagle River is home to the largest chain of inland lakes in the world.  The Eagle River Chain is connected to the Three Lakes chain making up 28 interconnected lakes.  This is very nice because it means that you can spend an entire day on the water without seeing the same thing twice.  There are also numerous restaurants on the water that provide everything from cheeseburgers to gourmet meals.  The lakes provide much of the entertainment in this beautiful natural environment.  Whether you are into fishing or waterskiing there is something for everyone.  If you do not have your sea legs there are many other options that will keep you busy.  There is hiking in the forest along with many shops downtown.  There are many lakes on the chain but some are nicer than others.  It really depends what you are looking for what lake you want to be on.  Some are more for locals while others are full of restaurants and Resorts.  Depending on what time of year you visit Wisconsin there are many other activities.  Eagle River is the snowmobile capital of the world.  Snowgoer Magazine ranked Eagle River as the best overall snowmobile destination.  The trails were ranked number one in best trail riding, best trail signing, best area, catering to families, best area snowmobile service facilities, and best weekend or daytrips.  Eagle River also plays host to the world championship derby.  If you are planning on coming to visit Eagle River during the races you will need to book your hotel well in advance.  The restaurants of northern Wisconsin were also ranked among the best in the nations Snowbelt.
